A Good Change

October 2021

All the homework, stress of tests, pressure from social medias and the constant noise and distraction of a phone sending notifications is the norm for a College Student. Many of us would like our lives to stop for moment to catch our breath, for a moment to hear from the Lord, to silence all the other things and responsibilities competing for our attention. A whole weekend set aside for the Lord with no responsibilities, no WiFi and where cellphone serves was questionable is what our students got to experience last weekend. Fall Retreat was a weekend where time seemed to sit still as we sat in the presence of God.

Thank you for your prayers for Fall Retreat! It was a beautiful time for all the girls who came! Aimee was baptized at Fall Retreat! I shared a little bit of her story last month, about how she came to college filled with anxiety. She declared that beautiful Sunday morning on the side of the creek bank that she was tired of anxiety and tired of trying to control her life. She gave God complete control. Since then I have seen a joyful Aimee come alive. She is free from what others think of her and completely captivated by God.

The Lord spoke so much purpose, belonging, love and value over all 18 of my girls who came! (Sadly we didn’t get a group photo) After Fall Retreat Emma is now also wanting to get baptized and make an adult decisions to follow the Lord and give her life to Him completely. I am believing that the work the Lord has started inside of them He will see to completion!

Seasons are changing and it is a beautiful sight as the leaves change into more vibrant colors. Even more beautiful is the change I am seeing in the lives of these sweet girls around me. During service one night, we were talking about

Galatians 6:7-8 “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.”

That evening as we sat in a circle, we started sharing what bad fruits we saw in our lives, (examples: anxiety, fear, depression, and comparison) we starting thinking about what seeds we were planting that actually produce those fruits. The girls decided and committed together to remove social media from their lives for the next 30 days. They talked about the fruit they wanted to produce in their lives, (here are a couple things they said, peace, knowing the Word, hearing God’s voice, knowing who God made them to be….) We made a plan to start planting new seeds in our lives over these 30 days.

I’m so hopeful for what will be produced and can’t wait to share in the harvest with you. What a rich season we are in and how wonderful it is to partner with you in planting the Kingdom of God in the hearts of these young ladies! Thank you so much for doing this with me! I couldn’t do it without you!

Thanks so much for your faithful support and prayer!

Alyssa

Prayer

What we want to see God do in the lives of those around us or in our own lives must first be spoken in prayer.

Will you join me in praying for our campus and our girls God has given us to fight for?

Pray for them as many of them are going without social media this month and wanting to hear from the Lord. This week is Fall Break for them and it will be so tempting to be on our phones, pray they desire God more than being on social media.

I’m still hopeful and praying for a Dgroup to form in the Tri Sigma Sorority!

System Changes & Updates for Giving

Anyone who gives online, there has been an update to the online giving system to make it more user friendly and accessible.

If you currently have reoccurring online giving set up, they say nothing will change but we have been inform that for some, a few giving was canceled due to the update. You might want to check to see if everything is still set up correctly.

The website is still the same giving.ag.org and if you are giving a one-time gift or start giving online it will prompt you to create an account to set up your giving.

I’m currently not at full budget yet, if you are interested in giving or increasing your gift please let me know.
