Building Anticipation

Writer's picture: AlyssaAlyssa

What a summer it has been! This summer has been so full. I have been to Oklahoma, Missouri, Louisiana, Florida and back to Arkansas. Before the Summer is over I will have also driven to both New York and Colorado.

There is still so much to come for this summer. We will be starting our journey to New York on July 13th at 4pm. We will be driving our way there in two buses so please keep us in your prayers. We will be back in Conway on the 26th. Our students are so excited and we can’t wait to see how God uses each one of them uniquely. We have been looking forward to New York all summer long! The anticipation has been building and it is finally here!

I have already met so many Freshmen who will be joining us in the Fall. These Freshmen are so eager to start this next chapter of their lives. We didn’t have to look far to find students who were hungry for community.

I have prayed over the sororities many times over my last 6 years here at UCA but I felt a specific call to pray for them last semester. At the end of last semester I saw the Lord begin to move some things and open some doors.

There is a girl here who I met at the end of the last semester. She is a part of a sorority on campus called Sigma Sigma Sigma (Tri Sigma). I met her through a mutual friend and as a freshmen she was put into the position of Chaplin over her Sorority (that never happens). Even as one of the youngest in her chapter she has one of the biggest hearts for every girl in her sorority to come to know who Jesus is.

We are praying that what the Lord has started He will continue in this coming year. We are believing for every sorority on campus to have a Dgroup. We are praying that girls will find freedom from anxiety, that they would find their identity in the Lord, and that they would love God and serve Him faithfully for the rest of their lives.

Please join us in praying for the Sororities here at UCA.

The most popular Sororities at UCA are:

Sigma Sigma Sigma, Delta Zeta, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Alpha Sigma Tau, and Sigma Kappa

There are also a couple more that are also here but not as commonly known.

One of the girls from my Dgroup, has been sending me pictures of her time with the Lord this summer. She adds what the Lord is speaking into her Bible. I’m so proud of how this girl has grown in the Lord this summer. Her love for others has only grown and I can’t wait to see her out on campus meeting new Freshmen girls.

I can’t wait to introduce you to the new Freshmen I meet and to tell you of the many doors the Lord will open in the sororities this year. I can’t wait to tell testimonies of how students came to college and met Jesus for the very first time.

In Paul’s letter to the Colossians he says…

Colossians 4:2-4 “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.”

That is what I am praying for over this year and over each girl that I am discipling.

Thank you Team for your support,

prayers and partnership,

Alyssa
