Can you imagine…..a young girl staring at her left hand watching the ring sparkle and shine. She has only dreamed of such a thing happening to her and now beyond her wildest dreams she is getting ready to start a new chapter in her life. As the date is set and decisions are made she is beginning to see her dreams for this special day start to unfold. The day gets closer, final details are taken care of and excitement builds for the day she becomes a Mrs.
She can see the whole day playing out in her head and it’s the most beautiful day she has ever see. But one visit from an angel changed all her plans…can you imagine…all the wedding planning has come to a sharp halt and has changed to a different type of planning. She is no longer planning for her dream wedding day but for a baby….can you imagine? Everything she thought was going to happen has completely changed in a moment.
Mary was planning on having a wedding and the Lord changed her plans. While Mary was looking forward to her wedding day God was looking forward to the birth of His son and to the hope that was coming.
As many of you may already know, that on Easter Sunday there were bombings on an island off the east coast of India, five weeks before we were scheduled to arrive. Since the last newsletter you received we have changed plans and regrouped. We are no longer going to the island and my team has been added to other teams. Five of them are going with me to mainland Asia and the rest were placed on teams going to the East coast of Asia. (if you would like to know specific locations you can comment or send me a message.)
Through this process of all the changes I found myself uncomfortable and overwhelmed. I took my feelings before the Lord and He brought my heart and mind to ease. But thinking over Mary’s story I can only hope that one day my response will be given as easily as she gave her’s. That even
though she was not planning for a child she trusted God and His plan.
Even in all the change, I will choose to trust that what someone meant for harm God will use
for good. I will believe that God’s plan is greater than anything we can schedule, organize or manage.
Even as I look around at my new team of 18 there are new faces and new names but I promise the heart beat of each one is the same. They are amazing men and women who love the Lord with great abandon. I can’t wait to go to Asia with them.
Thank you for your love and support.
Can’t wait to share with you what God does overseas and in our lives. ~ Alyssa
