Hello Everyone!
The holiday season is full of traditions reflections and expectations. On New Years Eve we take time to look back on the events of the past year. We might laugh over and re-live the entire year all in one evening, or we might spend time making goals and plans for a new year to come.
I hope 2020 brings excitement and great expectation to you and your family. The
new year brings new dreams for the year to come and gives space to look back on
the year past. Taking the opportunity to remember every victory, every challenge,
every sorrow, and every joy that came throughout the year can be a beautiful gift.
Remember
As I have taken time to remember, I have found that time to remember is food for the soul. When I remember who God is and what He has done over the year, it fights the doubt in my mind that He will be good and faithful again. I so quickly forget the things God has done and this year I want to choose to stop and remember more often to not loose perspective of who God is.
Filter
Remembering can work like a filter that can change our perspective of everything around us. As I remember how God was faithful over the year, I can look at the uncertainty in front of me and choose to declare God’s faithfulness over the uncertainty. Remembering gives me a certainty, knowing who God was yesterday produces faith in who I know he will be today. This produces a filter of hope and encouragement for today and the future. What kind of filter do you want to see everything through?
Communion
In the New Testament, we see Jesus telling His disciples to remember His death before He dies. He asks them to take bread and remember his broken body; to take the cup and remember his blood that will be poured out for everyone. Communion reminds us who Jesus is and why he was the sacrifice for all mankind. If we have forgotten who Jesus is we have missed the point completely.
Do this in REMEMBRANCE of Me! As we remember Jesus, remember His sacrifice, remember what He has saved you from and allow your heart to be filled with great gratitude.
Challenge to Remember
What if we stopped to remember the Goodness of God? Would Doubt turn into Hope…Would Confusion turn into Confidence…
What if we stopped to remember the Faithfulness of God? Would Fear turn into Trust…Would Certainty of yesterday produce Faith for today…
What if we stopped to remember the Grace of God? Would Shame turn into Praise…Would Rebellion turn into Humility…Would Regret turn into Gratitude…
What did God do last year?
May remembering be an encouragement. As you look back, over the year, over the struggles, over the triumphs, over the joys, and over the unresolved situations allow it to produce confidence. A confidence in who God is and to show you how far you have come from your beginning. Remembering shows us how far we have come from the start line. Even if the finish line doesn't seem any closer we can remind ourselves where we started and see all we have overcome. May remembering be a gift to your heart as we start a new year. May it produce a perseverance, a joy for the future, and hope of what God will do in the year to come.
Thank you for passing on the heart of God to the next generation!
I would not want to do this without such a wonderful support team!
