What happened to Spring Break?

For many of us our Spring Breaks have come to a close. In many cases Spring Break didn't look the same for us this year. Instead of the beach, traveling out of state or out of country, we were in our own homes. But those who had an early spring break, before quarantine became a thought on anyone's mind, this was how two groups chose to spend their time and what they chose to invest into.

During the second week of March we received two teams, one from the South and another from the North. They came in like two waves of joy and expectation. The one from the South was a strong team of 12 from Texas A&M Chi Alpha. The team of 17 from the North full of excitement and joy came from Radford University Chi Alpha in Virginia. Together they made a such an impact on the UCA campus.

"The week we had at UCA was a phenomenal time for us as leaders and for our team of students from Texas A&M. We were able to practice listening to the Holy Spirit and going forth in boldness to pray for the people God was putting on our hearts. For many of our students, it was their first time to evangelize and share their testimonies with other people. Even some, more experienced student leaders, had God give them visions for the first time.

We were also able to spend time working on UCA’s new Missions Training Center that God has blessed them with. It was incredible getting to work on something that will be used for God's glory and purposes with people that love Him. We are beyond thankful for the UCA staff and their wonderful students that honored and welcomed us the whole week!"

"God has been severely moving this past school year for me and one of the biggest changes I've seen in my life during my spring semester was during my Spring Break Mission Trip. From March 7-March 13, I've been in Arkansas partnering Radford's Chi Alpha with University of Central Arkansas and Texas A&M's Chi Alphas and all I can say is, I'm so wrecked in the best way possible from it. Before this trip I was so worried I wasn't going to be able to be used or that people would think of me differently because my true walk with Christ is so fresh but it was the complete opposite. Every single day I was pushed out of my comfort zone whether it was letting Holy Spirit guide me, or evangelizing on or off campus, attending D-Group, having a one-on-one with an amazing woman there, to even meditating on the scripture. UCA's Chi Alpha has been the best. I was hosted by amazing people and the community there soaked into our own and it was truly upsetting to say goodbye to everyone. I had the best week of my life building Godly relationships, watching people come closer to God, and just witnessing how their Chi Alpha moves in a way that I want to move in my own walk with Christ. I'm so thankful that even in the midst of all the chaos the second half of the trip brought (finding out Radford was shutting down for a month), we still stood stronger than ever by praying through it with each other. I'm so thankful that I get to reunite with all of the brothers and sisters in Christ I made, at the World Missions Summit in 2021. This week has reminded me that I genuinely know that God has a purpose for me and that I am loved even when I try to allow the enemy in and I could not ask for a better family

to remind me of that truth."

These teams were such a blessing to our Chi Alpha family! I got to watch them grow before my very eyes! Each one of them so hungry to know the Lord in a deeper way! They invested themselves fully into listening to the voice of the Father and walking in the power of the Holy Spirit. I heard testimony and after testimony of how the Lord used them each day. But the testimonies that stuck with me were the ones that ended with "this is something I can do back home" or "this is something I have to start doing everyday". They truly encountered God and it changed not just a week of their lives but has given them vision for the future as well.

The week after they left was the week our campus started to shut down but it was a wonderful way to end the semester on campus. We left with expectation and hope for what God would continue to do! Even still hearing from these students that they have been fighting to remain faithful and to abide with the Lord as they are all separated in their own homes. They continue to be such an encouragement and joy!
